Bulls snap Knicks winning streak at 13; Win 118-111

The Chicago Bulls snapped the New York Knicks winning streak of 13 games tonight. They trailed by 17 points early, but the Bulls battled back the entire night. That battling came from Nate Robinson, who would score 35 points. Robinson was unstoppable at times as he would get to the free throw line for ten free throws. That enabled him to do what he wanted.

This was a loss that the Knicks wanted to avoid, but it came against the Bulls that ended the Heat’s historic streak last month.

This game would go into overtime when Carmelo Anthony missed a jumper as time expired. In overtime the Bulls came out with energy and took of the Knicks lack of bodies. The Bulls outscored the Knicks 13-6 in overtime in what would be the deciding quarter.

For the Knicks Carmelo Anthony continued to score as he set a Knicks record of 35 plus points at five games. Anthony scored 36 points tonight in what was another nice performance by him. Not only did Anthony score, but he rebounded as well. With 19 rebounds, Anthony would set a season high in rebounds. His aggressiveness in getting to the missed shots resulted in a high total of rebounds.

JR Smith scored 28 points and grabbed 14 rebounds tonight. Smith was a factor off the bench as he scored with an array of moves. This wasn’t his best game, but he still had 28 points.

Late in this game the Knicks really looked gassed. With only nine players available, the Knicks needed a big lead. They had that big lead, but couldn’t hold on.

This wasn’t a bad loss by any means, but with the Knicks wanting to lock up the second seed, every win matters. The Knicks magic number to clinch the second seed is three games. They do face the Pacers on Sunday, in what could decide the outcome.

Overall tonight wasn’t all lost for the Knicks. Raymond Felton did bang his knee in the overtime, but that doesn’t seem like a big deal. The Knicks will play tomorrow night against the Cleveland Cavaliers looking to get back on the winning track.
