The New York Knicks failed to complete the sweep of the Boston Celtics this afternoon. This was a very tight game late in the second half that also went into overtime. The Celtics played a great game. At one point they led by 20 points. The Knicks did battle back and did get a two point lead late, but the Celtics would recover and win this game.
The Celtics played their best game despite struggling late in the third quarter. Jason Terry made some great shots for the Celtics. Overall the Celtics played excellent defense late to force the Knicks into tough shots. This was a very dominating performance by them and why they won.
Carmelo Anthony really struggled to say the least. Anthony from the start seemed to have nothing on his shots. He shot 29% from the field on 10 of 35 shooting. He also missed clutch free throws late in the game that really came back to bite the team. Anthony also had 7 turnovers today. He really over dribbled in certain situations which led to the high turnovers. Anthony will come out harder and play much better on Wednesday.
This was a game for which the Knicks seemed to have no energy early in the game. They came into the game sluggish and the Celtics took advantage. This was a very tough day for the Knicks offense. They came back, but they trailed by too much to win this game.
Raymond Felton was special today. At a point in the game where the Knicks needed someone to lean on, Felton was the guy. He played great as he scored 27 points. He had his way with the Celtics and really attacked the basket. He also made four huge three-pointers. His performance today was really important in the Knicks battling back.
Without JR Smith, due to his one game suspension, Iman Shumpert really played well today. Shumpert scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Not only was his offense important, but he did a great job in playing defense. Late in the game Shumpert made some excellent defensive plays that were important. His play in this series has been up and down, but he did have a great game today.
The Knicks and Celtics will play Wednesday night when the Knicks will try to end the series at Madison Square Garden.
