The New York Knicks hosted their first playoff series for the first time since 2001 and they wouldn't disappoint.
Scoring 36 points, Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks from the start. His offense early really was huge for the Knicks. His four three-pointers were huge in terms of being a difference maker. Midway through this game Antony did miss a bunch of shots, but he did find his game late in the contest.
This was also a dominating game for the Knicks in the second half. Holding the Celtics to 25 points in the second half was possibly the biggest achievement of today's game. That effort and intensity really has to continue for them as the series continues.
The bench play was also a major part of today's win. JR Smith scored 15 points while Kenyon Martin scored 10 points. Both had moments in this game that gave the Knicks plenty of momentum. They impacted the game off the bench and were important today.
Overall this was a must win. A win tonight gives the Knicks a series lead at 1-0. This was critical against a Celtic team who plays very tough. This series is far from over, but a win today was very important.
