Pacers down Knicks; Win 82-71

The Indiana Pacers defeated the New York Knicks 82-71, taking a 2-1 series lead. From the start the Pacers outplayed the Knicks in every area of the game. Their dominance inside allowed for easy shots on the outside. The Knicks doubled early in the shot clock, resulting in open shots.

This performance tonight by the Knicks wasn’t expected. They looked flat on the offensive end and lacked the intensity on the defensive end to win the game.

There was no spark, energy, excitement from the start.

The only double digit scorer for the Knicks was Carmelo Anthony. He scored 21 points in 37 minutes of action. Anthony attempted only 16 shots and never could get into a groove. He was the only offensive threat tonight and he couldn’t do it alone.

The pace on offense was an issue. The Knicks walked the ball up the court and never seemed to have any urgency tonight.

Amare Stoudemire did return to action in this game, scoring 7 points in eight minutes. Stoudemire looked rusty at times, but also strong as well. His post up play can be huge for the Knicks in this series with the Pacers taking away the three point shot.

Tonight the Pacers simply outplayed the Knicks. The series will continue Tuesday night, when the Knicks will look to avoid losing another game.
