Celtics earn first win of preseason; Defeat Knicks 111-81

The New York Knicks and Boston Celtics played in Manchester, New Hampshire in another preseason contest. The Celtics came out ready to play and would dominate the entire night, even with the Knicks battling back, the Celtics would hold on for the 30 point win.

Leading the Celtics was Kelly Olynyk who scored 15 points off the bench. Olynyk played really well using his inside and outside game. His play on the offensive end was remarkable because he missed only one shot. Tonight Olynyk was everywhere and really helped the Celtics get their first preseason win.image

Overall the Celtics played very energized and seemed to have their best shots tonight. They picked the Knicks defense apart and used their quickness to score inside. They were the better team tonight and really deserved to win.

For the Knicks, the performance by Toure Murry was great to see. Murry scored 16 points off the bench and was key in the Knicks hanging in the game. But he did struggle late in the game—along with the rest of the team. Overall Murry has done some great things so far and deserves a shot. His youthfulness, quickness, and defensive mindset really makes Murry a need for this team. Hopefully Murry continues to play well and earns his spot on the team.

Ike Diogu really played well tonight as he led the team with 21 points. Diogu really played well inside as he drew three inside fouls. His ability to rebound on the offensive side really adds another dimension to the team. Tonight he was able to grab five offensive rebounds.

Tonight few Knicks performed well and that was the reason for the loss. Carmelo Anthony, Raymond Felton, Tyson Chandler, Beno Udrih, and Metta World Peace all were held out tonight. Those guys should be back for the next game.

The Boston Celtics picked up their first win of the preseason, improving to 1-3. While the Knicks dropped to 1-2 with tonight’s loss. The Knicks will play again on Thursday when they play the Washington Wizards.
