Trying to get back on track the New York Knicks would battle the Denver Nuggets tonight. From the start the Nuggets played with outstanding effort and energy. That effort and energy would lead to a very nice win for the Nuggets. There play on the offensive end would prove too much for the Knicks.
Ty Lawson proved that he could lead the team and he did tonight. Lawson scored a team high 22 points including eight assists. His play was superb tonight as he used his quickness to create scoring opportunities. He was able to penetrate the Knicks defense and find the basket wide open time and time again. This was a very solid game by Lawson, who continues to play very well in Denver.
Former Knick Nate Robinson provided 16 strong points for the Nuggets off the bench. Robinson continues to score for any team he plays for and tonight he did that against the Knicks. Randy Foye also played strong as he scored 17 points in 30 minutes. Foye continues to kill the Knicks every time he faces them. Tonight it was the same as Foye would provide the lift for the Nuggets.
For the Knicks, they had a chance to tie or take the lead with 17 seconds remaining, but instead Carmelo Anthony took on the mismatch. That would be a poor decision in the end as Randy Foye would get a piece of Anthony’s shot which would thus give the Nuggets the win as Anthony missed. Overall Anthony scored 27 points to lead the Knicks, but his late game shooting continues to be poor. He had a very nice game, but in the end he hasn’t been able to lead the team to victory. That has to be a concern. Right now the team is clearly struggling and that in its self has to be discouraging. Tonight the Knicks had effort, but that came when they trailed.
This has been a very tough stretch for the Knicks. Tonight was another heartbreaking end. Things will not get easier as the losing continues to have a stranglehold on the Knicks season.
Tonight the Knicks had more production, but could not get the win. They should take some positives from tonight and put it all together for their next game on Sunday night. The Nuggets played hard tonight and the Knicks did, but it came at the end. They have to come out strong and look to control the game. Right now they are letting the other team do whatever they want.
The Knicks will face the Pelicans on Sunday night while the Nuggets will battle the Raptors that same day.
