Nets edge Heat; Win 101-100

The Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets faced off in an early season battle. This game was controlled by Brooklyn for most of the night. But every time the Nets would build a lead the Heat would find a way to get back into the game. And that was the case late in the fourth quarter when the Heat pulled within one on a LeBron James three-pointer. But in the end the Nets would hold on for the 101-100 win.

The Nets won this game as a team tonight. Led by Paul Pierce and Joe Johnson, the Nets were able to have the momentum all game long. Pierce and Johnson scored 19 points each and contributed nicely for the Nets.

For the Heat LeBron James played a big part in the Heat battling back in this game. James scored a game high 26 points with seven rebounds and six assists. James played strong and really looked to involve his teammates. Dwyane Wade added 21 points while Chris Bosh added 17 points. The Heat had little production from their bench and that was the area that came back to get them.

The Nets bench on the other hand gave productive points and really gave the Nets a nice edge. If they can continue to provide points like they did tonight, the Nets will have a strong season.

Overall this game was really great at times. It is way too early to make any determinations from this game, but the Nets looked really solid tonight. Their age and health will be the main question marks later in the season, but right now they look good.

The Nets will play the Orlando Magic on Sunday and the Heat will battle the Washington Wizards on Sunday as well. The Heat have now lost two in a row after their win over the Bulls on opening night. They struggled at times tonight, but like last season when they get going they will be hard to stop.
