Pistons down Knicks 92-86

The New York Knicks fell to the Detroit Pistons 92-86 falling to 3-7 on the season. The continue struggle for this team is amazing. Nothing is changing and every game ends the same.

In the beginning the Knicks seemed to have the ball movement and fluidity that they would need if they wanted to win the game. But in the second half that game plan seemed to disappear. Turnovers and bad fouls really were bad a times. Defensively the Knicks continued to struggle and everyone played selfishly. Rather than owning a mistake everyone pointed the finger at the other guy. Mike Woodson preached “accountability” when he first took over as head coach, but that message has faded away.

Carmelo Anthony scored his 25 points tonight. He struggled shooting tonight, going 8 of 20 from the floor. Anthony was able to score, but he really struggled tonight. Anthony also had seven turnovers and really played selfishly at times. He has to get back to looking for his teammates again.

Andrea Bargnani was a beast early in this game, but in the second half he was held to just three shots. He was unstoppable as he drove past the Pistons big men. He scored 13 points, but could have seen some more shots especially with how he has been playing.

This was an unacceptable performance by the Knicks. They continue to struggle with defense and make bad decisions in terms of switching.

The Pistons played a very nice game in the second half and Rodney Stuckey really emerged as a nice offense spark for the Pistons. Stuckey scored 21 points to lead the Pistons. His shot was in prime form tonight as he shot 57% from the field. His play has fallen off over the last couple of seasons, but tonight he really played a great game.

The Pistons played very smart and used their size to their advantage. They also used their quickness and youthfulness. Those three things really were the deciding factors tonight. The Knicks tried to combat the size by playing with bigger lineups, but defensively they couldn’t stop the Pistons.

Overall tonight was another let down by the Knicks. They continue to play poorly and are losing very winnable games. Time is running out before changes are made and tonight may lead to future changes. The Pistons improve to 4-6 on the season and will play the Atlanta Hawks tomorrow night.
