Celtics destroy Knicks 114-73

Today was simply an utter disaster for the New York Knicks.

Flat, uninspiring, sad, pathetic, and simply ugly were words to describe this Knicks game. The Celtics jumped out early and would win easily. At one point the Celtics found themselves up 43 points. The Knicks defense and offense were poor from the start and never got going today.

The Celtics had a fantastic game from Jordan Crawford who would score 23 points. His shot was so fluid today and he knew it. Crawford would thus connect on six three-pointers and would shoot 57% from the field overall. He continues to play well for the Celtics and be a solid player for them.

Jared Sullinger was also a very solid player for the Celtics today. He used his body to overpower the Knicks weak interior defense. Sullinger would score 21 points and shoot 82% from the field.

The Knicks had little positive signs, but Amare Stoudemire played a very solid game. Stoudemire came in and would go to work with excellent drives to the basket. Stoudemire would draw foul after foul and would do a great job in his 20 minutes on the floor. He would score 17 points including two rebounds and a block. He did start the second half due to the terrible play by the Knicks starters.

Carmelo Anthony played 19 points, but those were a real struggle to get. Anthony shot really poor tonight and he wasn’t the only one.

Raymond Felton and Iman Shumpert were held scoreless as they shot 0-12 from the field. Andrea Bargnani scored just two points on 1-of-7 shooting. And lastly Tim Hardaway Jr. scored eight points as he started in place of Kenyon Martin.

This was a pathetic performance by the Knicks to say the least. Everything they did over the last two game went out the window tonight. They looked slow and at times didn’t even try. The Knicks have a long way to go and today exposed a trend with this team. That trend that they always revert back to their old ways and today they did that.

The Knicks will now travel to Cleveland to face the Cavaliers on Tuesday night. The Celtics will prepare for a battle with the Brooklyn Nets that same night.
