The New York Knicks couldn’t shake out their problems yet again tonight and lost 109-94 to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
This was a very strong performance by the Cavaliers who at one point led by 18 points. They controlled the game in the second half and really scored very easy against a poor Knicks team. Kyrie Irving was the center of the Cavaliers scoring tonight as he poured in 37 points. Irving was too fast for the Knicks defense and used that to score. He continues to torch the Knicks every time he faces them. Tonight he did the same thing and it led to a his team winning.
Jarrett Jack also was a huge boost for the Cavaliers as he scored 17 points off the bench. Jack really took advantage of open shots both from three-point range and from mid-range. He continues to be a solid veteran point guard and has been a nice pickup for the Cavaliers.
The Knicks really fell flat on their face tonight. They battled back from the 18 point deficit, but in the second half the deficit grew to back up to 19 points. This was a terrible game for the Knicks as they can’t get back to playing winning basketball.
Carmelo Anthony was solid tonight as he scored 29 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He continues to dominate inside, but can’t get any help. Tonight Amare Stoudemire played well in his season high 28 minutes, but other then him there wasn’t anyone else. Both Anthony and Stoudemire haven’t played well together in the past, but tonight and over the last few games they have.
This continues to be a terrible season for the Knicks who are now 5-15 on the season. This was a very sad and pathetic game for the Knicks. They have nothing working and everything they showed during their short two game winning streak has disappeared.
Things will get worst for the Knicks if they cannot start finding wins and that may start sooner rather then later.
The Cavaliers will next play on Friday against the Orlando Magic while the Knicks will host the Chicago Bulls tomorrow night.
The Knicks need guard play from both their starters and bench players, but that hasn’t happened and the team continues to struggle.
