The New York Knicks looked to redeem themselves tonight as they faced the Milwaukee Bucks. This was a very terrible basketball game by both teams tonight. But in the end the Knicks would defeat the Bucks 107-101 in double overtime.
The particulars of this game would take about two weeks to explain, but in short the Knicks somehow walked away with the win.
Carmelo Anthony played a career high in minutes to night as he played 50 minutes tonight. He shot the ball poorly, but made shots when he had to as he scored 29 points. He also made some key assists down the stretch to help get the team the win.
The Knicks had phenomenal play by Beno Udrih tonight as he scored 21 points. Without his shot making the outcome of the game might be different. JR Smith scored 19 points, but set a Knick record with 17 three-pointer attempts. He was open on a bunch of them, but still that is too high for someone who can get to the basket.
But the real story was the return of Tyson Chandler who played 37 minutes in what was a very solid game from him. Chandler did play long minutes tonight, but he gave the team all he had tonight. He scored nine points and grabbed nine rebounds in his first game back after missing the last 20 due to a broken right leg.
The Bucks are just a very young and inexperienced team. They were without a lot of their veteran players tonight and it really showed. They would commit 20 turnovers leading to 19 points. It all stemmed from Brandon Knight. He would turn the ball over eight times tonight and that cannot happen if the team wants to win. Knight did score the ball as he poured in 36 points. Knight had the range from the three point arc as he connected on a career high six three pointers.
This game really was bad. There was poor basketball by both teams and it showed in the end.
The Knicks survived after Andrea Bargnani put the team in double overtime. He would attempt a shot after the Knicks would get and offensive rebound with 14 seconds remaining. In that situation Bargnani was supposed to hold onto the ball and run the clock out, but instead it gave the Bucks the chance to tie or win the game. The Bucks would tie the game and send it into double overtime.
Of course the Knicks will laugh Bargnani’s blunder off, but it shows the lack of focus by this team. Tonight they were able to escape it, but in the future when games really start to matter it will cost them.
The Knicks get their eighth win of the year and somehow stop the bleeding for one game. They will prepare for their next game on Saturday when they face the Memphis Grizzlies. The Bucks will the Cavaliers on Friday night.
This game was a disaster, but somehow the Knicks walked away with the win. Solid win over the worst team in the league.
