After leading by 17 points, the New York Knicks gave it all back as the Hawks came back to to take the lead. They would continue scoring and really took the Knicks out of this game with excellent three point shooting. The Hawks would win 107-98, sending New York to another terrible loss.
The combination of Mike Scott and Jeff Teague were just too much for the Knicks to overcome. Both torched the Knicks from different areas, Scott from outside and Teague from inside. They destroyed the Knicks defense that either sagged off or left holes to the basket. Scott had a career night as he poured in 30 points on 79% shooting. His shot was just automatic tonight as he connected on six three-pointers. His teammate Jeff Teague also had a brilliant game as he scored 28 points. Teague went inside to score. He took advantage of weak perimeter defense and converted on his opportunities.
This was a very typical Knick game. They led, looked in control, but in the end lost due to terrible defense and unreliable offense. Carmelo Anthony played an exceptional game as he scored 35 points, but it was all in vain. Anthony is playing so many minutes, but that is coming in wins.
Games are coming down to defense and the Knicks aren’t bringing their best late in games. They constantly allow opposing players to get into the paint at will and also combat that by playing off guys to get beat from behind the arc. Tonight was the perfect summary of the Knicks season. They have made zero improvements from the start of the season to this point. This is one of the worst teams the Knicks have had in a while. The season is slowly getting away from them and now this might be the breaking point.
A pathetic night for Knicks fans everywhere.
