Drummond grabs 26 rebounds as Pistons down Knicks 96-85

The New York Knicks lost their seventh straight game tonight as they fell to the Detroit Pistons 96-85. After getting an early 14 point lead, the Knicks would give it all back. Their lack of defense and on and off offense really made tonight’s game impossible to win.

The Pistons fought back really well tonight. They started very slow and turned the ball over too much. But they were able to get under control and take the Knicks down using their size inside. Andre Drummond has played at a high level this season and is starting to come into his own. Tonight he put on a clinic tonight inside as he dominated the boards. Drummond grabbed a career high 26 rebounds in 46 minutes. The Pistons have a budding star in Drummond, who continues to make strides to becoming a very dominate big man.

Will Bynum came in the fourth quarter and really gave the Pistons a nice jolt of energy. He was able to get to the basket and also made a three-pointer to extend the Pistons lead. Bynum’s 15 points were just what the team needed in a very up and down game for both teams.

The Knicks are simply a mess and tonight was just a terrible loss. They had a lead and just couldn’t hold it. Their defense was bad and the offense wasn’t that good either. This team continues to make the same mistakes every game and continue to ignore the problems. After the last game JR Smith questioned the Knicks heart, but tonight he himself didn’t show that with the performance he had.

Carmelo Anthony scored 28 points. Amare Stoudemire scored 22 points. And Smith scored 16 points. Those three were the only ones to score in double figures tonight. The offense was putrid. The defense was just pathetic, yet again. The Knicks tonight showed why they are just terrible this season, they cannot fix the areas in which they struggle. From the start of the season until now this team hasn’t improved in any area.

The road doesn’t get any easier for the Knicks as they face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.
