The New York Knicks continued their winning ways tonight as they defeated the Utah Jazz 92-83. This was a very important game for New York and they stepped up to get another big win. After falling behind by ten points early on, the Knicks went on to comeback and win this game fairly easily. They played outstanding defense in the second half to shut down the Jazz.
The player for the Knicks tonight was Carmelo Anthony. He played very poised and controlled tonight as he poured in 34 points. He dominated the offense and really played solid on defense as well. His play this season has been consistent and strong for the Knicks. Anthony also had eight rebounds in this game. He has been very solid in rebounding this year and it continued tonight.
Tyson Chandler also played a strong game for New York. He was a presence inside on offense as he drew fouls and caught excellent lob passes. His success this season comes when he is aggressive on offense. Tonight his teammates found him for excellent opportunities and he converted on those chances.
The Jazz really wouldn’t go away in this one. Every time New York would seemingly put some distance between them, they would come right back at the Knicks. But in the end they just couldn’t sustain offense to keep up with New York. But they did have a fantastic game out of Gordon Hayward. He continues to have a strong season as he scored 18 points in 39 minutes. He wasn’t efficient at all tonight, but he did make plays to help keep the Jazz in the game.
This game was very up and down for both teams, but the Knicks were able to walk away with a very important win. The Knicks did lose Tim Hardaway Jr. late in the fourth quarter after he injured his ankle. Hardaway has become a very important player for the Knicks and if he misses significant time it really will hurt New York. He did have a strong game as he scored ten points tonight.
The Knicks closed out a back to back with a solid win and now have to focus their attention on the Brooklyn Nets whom they face Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden.
