Knicks stun Warriors; Win 89-84

The New York Knicks won their biggest game of the season tonight as they defeated the Golden State Warriors 89-84. After trailing by 12 points early in this contest everything looked bad for New York. But then all of a sudden the Knicks went on a crazy run to take a 12 point lead into halftime. From that point on New York did everything in their power to win. From Amare Stoudemire making hustle plays to big shots by Tim Hardaway JR. Tonight was an excellent team win.

This game had crazy swings of momentum and none bigger then the Knicks run early in the second quarter. They made plays to win tonight, something they haven’t done all season. JR Smith led New York in points tonight as he scored 21 points. His play was up and down, but he did make it an effort to attack the basket. He was huge in the second quarter as he scored 14 points. This was his best performance in terms of making winning plays. His effort was their tonight, of course he made poor plays, but overall his impact on the game was huge.

Amare Stoudemire, as stated above, was huge in making plays tonight. He never gave up and made things happen when everything wasn’t going New York’s way. His impact since joining the starting lineup has been huge. Since then he seems to have found a new energy and passion for the game. His work tonight was incredible as he made plays to help get this huge win. In the end Stoudemire scored 15 points including dominance on the boards as he collected 13 rebounds.

After having a solid lead, the Warriors failed to hold it. They struggled in late game situations as they would turn the ball over. This game was really a tough one for them to lose. Being in the western conference losing games against weaker opponents will cause the team to lose its positioning in the standings. In the Warriors case, every game is important. Tonight they let this game slip out of their hands.

Stephen Curry took advantage of some poor Knick defense tonight as he scored a game-high 32 points. His shot was fluid as always as he connected on six three-pointers. Curry showed tonight that, if given the room, he will knock down open shots. His late game handling continues to be an issue as he turned the ball over when the Warriors had a chance to tie the game. That area has been weak for him at times, but with his experience, he should get better.

Overall this was the best game of the season for the Knicks. They competed and finally showed heart. This game will hopefully give them motivation to keep fighting to get to the playoffs.
