The Dallas Mavericks came into the night on a 5 game winning streak. The Knicks were coming off a win against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday. The Knicks were still without Wilson Chandler who is still out with a calf injury. The game was all about runs as both teams fought back and fourth for the lead. The Mavericks took over in the 3rd quarter as they opened up a 24 point lead. The Knicks got back within 11 points, but couldn’t get any closer. The play of Dirk Nowitzki was very important for the Mavs. As he scored 29 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. He has been struggling with his knee, but is a tough player to play through it. He played great as he scored over the Knick defenders. The Mavericks are a tough team to beat and when they are healthy they may be the best team in the league. Jose Barea scored 22 points off the bench and was a real spark plug for the Mavericks offense. The Mavs played hard coming out of the 3rd quarter and the Knicks couldn’t match the energy of the Mavs.
The Knicks were led by Danilo Gallinari who is playing very well right now as he scored a team-high 27 points. He has been on a hot streak at getting to the foul line to score easy points. He has been great after coming back from his injured knee. Amar'e Stoudemire scored 21 points all in the first half. He had a terrible second half because both sides of his game suffered, The Knicks need Amar’e to grab more rebounds and his lack of concentration on the boards really hurts the Knicks. The Knicks were a step slow the entire game. The Knicks will face the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday as they will try to beat a tough Sixers team.
