Tonight the New York Mets put together another nice performance. Johan Santana led the way with eight strong scoreless innings and only allowing three hits. Santana needed just three strikeouts to get through this outing. He was very great in limiting the base runners. Tonight Santana showed that he is starting to get back to his form from his no-hitter. This start will likely give the rest of the team the necessary momentum to complete this series.
Offensively the Mets had a huge three-run homerun from Ike Davis. This season Davis has struggled, but over the last couple of weeks Davis continues to get hits in the clutch. The Dodgers walked David Wright to get to Ike Davis and he made them pay. Tonight was another example of where Davis is at this point in the season. He is seeing the ball better and is hitting pitches that are supposed to be hit.
The Mets will finish off this series tomorrow night when they can try for the four game sweep.
WP: Johan Santana (6-4)
