Without Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler tonight, the New York Knicks struggled yet again and lost to the Portland Trail Blazers 105-90.
This was a very tough loss tonight as the team continues to lose big on this road trip.
Early on the Knicks really controlled this game and used the pick and roll to destroy the Blazers defense. But that was taken away by the Blazers for the rest of the game and that was a main reason the Knicks struggled for the rest of the game.
JR Smith was the main source of offense for the Knicks as he scored 33 points. Smith really was excellent in getting to the rim and that allowed him to get to the free throw line ten times.
Overall the Knicks have to be concerned with how their playing. Tonight they came out with the right mindset, but once Portland took away the pick and roll, they struggled.
The Blazers played well with Damian Lillard leading the way. Lillard scored 26 points and also dished out 10 assists tonight. He really performed well tonight and led his team to a win.
The Knicks will now fly to Los Angeles in preparation for their game against the Clippers on Sunday afternoon. That game will be a major for the Knicks. Tonight they dropped to 38-25 on the season and only lead the Nets by a game in the division standings.
