Cavaliers beat Knicks 91-81

The New York Knicks were looking for their eighth win of the season when they played the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight. Before the game the Knicks announced that guard Baron Davis would not make his debut. The Knicks were hoping for the same effort from last night, but they quickly found that this was going to be a tough game.

Both teams battled back and forth most of the game, but the Cavaliers would come out in the second half with energy the Knicks lacked. The Cavaliers scored at will and made the Knicks take outside shots that were not there.

This game showed that the Knicks are still not there with this team and they are in need of a point guard. Both Toney Douglas and Iman Shumpert struggled at times in this game with both committing three turnovers each. Douglas scored 8 points, but struggled to get the offense flowing. Shumpert struggled the entire game and never was able to get involved on both ends of the floor. The Knicks play well when the backcourt can score and get assists. This team looked tired and had no energy tonight.

Carmelo Anthony had 15 points and 6 assists, but struggled shooting the ball. He did an excellent job in getting his teammates involved. Tonight Anthony showed that if he wants to he could get assists for his team.

Next up was the play of Amare Stoudemire who scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Stoudemire at times tried to do way too much and it led to turnovers. He committed 6 turnovers tonight which is too many from a star player. He has to do less thinking and just play his game.

The Knicks tonight showed that they can be very up and down. When things aren’t going their way they struggle to score and play consistent defense. The Knicks will now have to face the Miami Heat on Friday and if the Knicks aren’t carful that game could be a blowout.
