The New York Mets will conclude a three game series against the Chicago Cubs. The winner tonight will win the series. The Mets won the first game on Friday, but lost yesterday after Bobby Parnell blew the lead. The Mets have played much better in this home stand over the last two games. The Mets offense has to just have huge leads going into the ninth inning to ensure a win.
Miguel Batista will start for the Mets looking to get his second win with the Mets. Batista is coming off a no decision where he went six innings allowing one run on five hits. He really is pitching well since the Mets called him up from Triple-A Buffalo. Batista is proving that he can really pitch at this level. His pitching has improved since he came over to the Mets from the Cardinals. The Mets have to look at Batista as an option for next season.
Matt Garza will go to the mound for the Cubs looking to get his ninth win of the season. Garza is having a tough season with a tough team. He is losing games that he would usually win with his old teams. Garza is currently on a two game winning streak and is pitching very well. His problem has been not getting the proper run support to win games. His team fails to get him leads and he usually gets no decisions. The Mets have to score against Garza tonight in order to beat the Cubs.
