Heat take commanding 3-0 series lead; Beat Knicks 87-70

The New York Knicks started the night with tons of energy, but that faded in the fourth quarter as the Heat took over the game with excellent offensive execution. The Heat were led by LeBron James who torched the Knicks for 32 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. James fell into foul trouble in the third quarter, but that didn’t stop him from coming back in the fourth quarter and torching the Knicks. James scored 17 points in the fourth quarter and really put the game away for the Heat.

Dwyane Wade scored 20 points tonight and he really picked up the scoring when James left in the third quarter. Wade continues to be an effective leader for the Heat. He knows exactly what his team needs and tonight really played like a leader. This team is going to be really dangerous as the playoffs continue to roll along. Wade gives an added leadership bonus that they wouldn’t have if he wasn’t around. Tonight the Heat proved to be too much for the Knicks late in this game.

The Knicks offense sputtered most of the game as Carmelo Anthony really struggled tonight. Anthony scored 22 points tonight and that came on a terrible shooting performance. This was a off night for Anthony and he played very nervous and tentative. The Knicks are now down 3 games to none and their season is one game from being over. Tonight they failed to make a stand in this series and now have to somehow get a win.

This team really struggled on the offensive end and that really led their downfall. There was a struggle tonight for the Knicks and they never could get over the hump tonight. The defense for them tonight was much improved, but they couldn’t play effective defense in the fourth quarter. This team is lost right now and now will possibly play their final game on Sunday afternoon.

The Heat really made life tough on the Knicks tonight. Their defense held the Knicks to 31.9% shooting from the field. They clamped down on the shooters and never allowed the Knicks to penetrate. They never allowed the Knicks to run the ball and that limited the Knicks to just three fast break points. This performance tonight shows that the Heat will be a very tough team to beat in this season’s playoffs. The next game will be on Sunday afternoon, but right now the Heat lead the Knicks 3-0 in a best of seven series. The Knicks can either force another game or go home being swept. It is also worth mentioning that the Knicks lost an NBA record 13 straight playoff games with this loss tonight.
