Last season Jason Kidd had career lows in both points and assists. Averaging 6.2 points and 5.5 assists, Kidd really didn’t have the best season. He was the starting point guard for the Dallas Mavericks playing a substantial amount of minutes for his age. Now Kidd will likely have more success as a backup then as a starter. Rebounding has always been a very nice trait for Kidd and last season Kidd averaged 4.1 rebounds per game. Last season Kidd didn’t have a great of year stat wise, but as a back-up his numbers should get somewhat better.
What to Expect
The Knicks will love having a solid backup in Kidd. He will and should embrace his role and remain productive. Expect his scoring number to be around six points and his assist number be around five to six. His production will be vital off the bench. Playing behind Raymond Felton, Kidd needs to get the bench going with excellent leadership. Over the years, Kidd has shown that he is a leader and can get his teammates involved. If Kidd can get the bench going, the Knicks will be very tough.
